Genres are categories of film types, classified into specific styles or topics, some genres remain single in a film, and other films have a mixed range of genres. Finding out the genre of a film before watching would reveal the subject matter and suitability of the film. For example, a crime/drama film may start with a dramatic beginning, but as the film showcases its genre, viewers will know that later the film will start to involve crime scenes, which also defines what genre it is, they are some standard characters. and dramatic situations associated with a specific category, such as a mobster who has family problems. Those who watch films have their own interest in particular genres, so categorizing it is an easy way to promote the film to particular audiences. The genre also defines the type of emotion you will get from the film, a comedy will be funny, so it will make people laugh, also it usually puts people in a better mood than before or horror where it will scare people, people find it fun to scare, for some people it is especially a younger audience, to be afraid of falling asleep. What defines a genre varies, props, locations, etc. For example for location, western genre films usually have a western type location which gives it that western type feel, depicting frontier life in the American West from the 1600s to contemporary times. For a musical genre what would define that type of film is the consistency of the music performed from time to time, music performed that goes with the plot, sometimes those performing look into the camera but don't when it comes to filming the scenes .Even genres made for a particular number of viewers at a time, such as family films, what defines a family... middle of paper... The Exorcist (1973), although it was a possessed girl with a demon who check but starting from acting people might find a young girl who uses language taken far. Health: Don't the characters eat healthily, smoke and drink? An example film for this would be the film “Blow” where there is a lot of drug use of many drugs; the film glorifies drugs in some places, which may make viewers want to experience the effect. I will choose the genre and show what makes it "Crime", different from film noir so it's not wrong, crime films are more involved in those who are committing crimes lifestyle and what they go through, how they got to that side of making money. Crime films usually involve violence, foul language, money and drugs. Cinematography and editing will have to be used correctly so that the audience can have a profound as well as visual feeling.
