Finding out the genre of a film before watching would reveal the subject matter and suitability of the film. For example, a crime/drama film may start with a dramatic beginning, but as the film showcases its genre, viewers will know that later the film will start to involve crime scenes, which also defines what genre it is, they are some standard characters. and dramatic situations associated with a specific category, such as a mobster who has family problems. Those who watch films have their own interest in particular genres, so categorizing it is an easy way to promote the film to particular audiences. The genre also defines the type of emotion you will get from the film, a comedy will be funny, so it will make people laugh, also it usually puts people in a better mood than before or horror where it will scare people, people find it fun to scare, for some people it is especially a younger audience, to be afraid of falling asleep.
