The Constitution establishes government in the United States of America. This is divided into three branches: Congress, which is the legislative, the President also known as the executive and the Supreme Courts also known as judicial. Each branch has its own power and structure. The first branch is the legislative branch (Congress). This branch is bicameral; It is composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The House of Representatives has 435 seats, 19 committees, and 84 subcommittees. They have the power to create laws and impeach presidents. All bills that consist of fundraising must come from the House. All laws must pass through the House of Representatives before reaching the president. The Senate has 100 seats, two per state, sixteen committees and sixty-nine subcommittees. The Vice President is the president of the Senate. The Senate has the power to bring impeachments to trial by a two-thirds vote. The Senate must also pass all fundraising bills, as well as all legislation must be approved before going to the President. All together, they supervise elections, tax, borrow money, mint money, establish naturalization rules, regulate commerce, declare war, and make appropriate and necessary laws. Although the Legislature has many powers over the United States, it does not have the power to suspend Habeas Corpus, cannot tax interstate commerce, cannot take money from the treasury unless a law is passed to do so, and cannot grant a title noble. The executive branch is the second branch. The President is the boss. Must be a natural born citizen, with at least fourteen years of living in the United States, must be at least 35 years of age, and must provide the state of the union to congress...... half of the document......ure a prolonged use of energy. As the saying goes “Knowledge is power”. In 1979, the President was fully true in this statement when he presented this idea to Congress and the Department of Education was created. For our government to survive as a democracy, it has been understood that citizens must be educated and well-informed to understand the politics of our society and those around us. This is why I can apply to and attend colleges and achieve higher goals in my education.
