As an international student, the biggest challenge is the language. I signed up for this English course for two reasons. First, I need to pass the ELPE test to meet the English language requirement in my department. Secondly, I want to improve my writing skills, which is my weak point in my academic study. What I like most about this course is that I can write whatever interests me. Unlike other English courses, the instructor gives us the freedom to choose our own topic. It's easier for me to write because I know what to write and how to write it. This is different from writing about a certain topic on the TOEFL, GRE, and ELPE exams. It is difficult for me to write a well-developed essay in a limited time. In this course I have enough time to develop and revise my draft until I am satisfied with it.
