The two characters are similar in the way they deny the world, in the way they isolate themselves from love and in the way they die young without truly realizing their dream . Pechorin is arrogant while Bazarov is also arrogant. They are all against the social context in which they live and have social development at heart. Bazarov opposes the difference between men, denies the liberal idea and the traditional Russian Orthodox one, while Pechorin detests social corruption. Both have the desire to change their country. The great ambition and intelligence they have make them detached and proud. No matter when Bazarov talks to Pavel Petrovich or when he talks to his parents, he never behaves politely and respectfully as the younger generation should be. Since he considers himself the only righteous and brilliant one, he feels contempt for the older generation and directly shows his contempt. When Bazarov argues with Pavel, he shows no respect and fails to consider things from Pavel's point of view.
